KEY POINTS

  • Barcelona is reportedly interested in tapping the services of Christian Pulisic on loan
  • A loan spell could do wonders in rejuvenating the football career of Pulisic
  • Barca could end up with three Blues players suiting up for them

Christian Pulisic is ready to play, but so far, he has failed to get regular playing time under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

Hence, the 23-year-old midfielder is leaving his options open and there are teams likely to look into his fit.

One of them is reportedly Barcelona with the Spanish giants believed to be considering a loan move for the USMNT star, Mundo Deportivo reported.

If the Catalan giants do pursue Pulisic, the earliest time on when this may happen could be in the January transfer window.

For his part, the Pennsylvania native is reportedly open to such a move, presumably if it means getting more playing time and chances on the field.

It is believed that Pulisic is at the top of the list of targets that Xavi wants.

Should loose ends be addressed, the American footballer could find himself playing in La Liga.

Considering that Barcelona would not be in direct competition with Chelsea since the former is in the Europa League, a deal could make sense, NBC Sports reported.

Pulisic is the latest name to be linked to a potential move to Barca. Other names being floated include Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger.

However, the two are attainable by the free-agent market. The contracts of the two Chelsea defenders will expire in the summer.

Ironically, there is no official word on whether Barcelona is currently holding talks on Azpilicueta and Rudiger.

Assuming that they do manage to sign the two defenders and get Pulisic as well, Blaugrana could end up with three Blues on the roster by next season.

Pulisic has had his share of struggles due to injuries. But the USMNT stalwart has somehow managed to keep himself healthy.

But the problem now is to convince Tuchel that he is good to go.

The American winger is a beloved figure in Chelsea, but setbacks such as his ankle injury have hampered his run.

He has managed only two goals and added one assist across three starts in all competitions for Chelsea this season.

A loan spell could help him recall his old form and revive his football career. It could be six months at the most.

Regardless, Pulisic needs to be on the field if he wants his football career to be back on track.
