Transfer Rumors: Premier League Teams Can Forget About Making Moves For Bayern Munich Striker
KEY POINTS
- Robert Lewandowski shuts the door on any Premier League transfer
- Lewandowski proves he can compete with the best from other leagues
- Erling Haaland is the likely heir to Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich has done more than enough in his football career.
He has proven what he can do wherever he goes so moving to another league may not matter.
The 33-year-old striker appears happy being with Bayern Munich although rumors of a potential transfer to the Premier League have cropped up every once in a while.
However, it appears Lewandowski has finally put a lid on that possibility after winning the Golden Shoe award.
"I don't have to prove myself in another league," Lewandowski stated. "I can compete with the best from other leagues in the Champions League."
He has been linked to several teams in the English Premier League, notably Chelsea. This cropped up after the Blues chase for Erling Haaland hit a snag.
Lewandowski’s contract with the Der FCB until 2023. Before the Polish striker’s latest comments, the Blues are reportedly willing to make a bid of about £50 million ($69 million) for him.
All those plans may have not gone down the drain.
For now, he is content with his current team and it appears all transfer talk surrounding him will forever remain as rumors. That is unless something dramatic happens in the coming months.
"I am 100 percent focused on Bayern Munich, I don't think about anything else but my team," Lewandowski shared.
Although his deal is good until 2023, contract extension talks with Bayern Munich have not been made.
But after his recent statements, it seems Der FCB does not need to rush since there is no serious interest in the Polish striker.
The case is different for Haaland. He is set to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer, and multiple clubs are trying to get him on their side.
As mentioned in a previous post, the teams interested in getting the 21-year-old striker include Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona and Manchester City.
Haaland is still under contract with Der BVB until 2024.
Teams who plan to seriously pursuit Haaland will have to cough up £68 million ($93 million) next summer.
