‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Director Michael Bay Unveils New Original Autobot Character
A new original autobot character is set to join the upcoming movie “Transformers: The Last Knight,” according to the film’s showrunner Michael Bay.
The director recently took to social media to share a first look of the new autobot. In Bay’s Instagram post, he uploaded a photo that featured himself and cast member Isabela Moner with a rusty looking small blue motorcycle. The said new autobot was specifically created for the fifth installment of the “Transformers” movie franchise, Screen Crush reported.
In the photo, the new autobot named Squeeks appears to be an old moped model. Parts of the said robot character have rust stains, while a few of the motorbike’s pieces appears to be missing. A few coiled springs were left hanging around Squeeks’ “head” area.
Bay’s Instagram photo also depicted a potential film location for the upcoming “Transformers 5” movie. The shot appears to be taken in a junkyard given the pieces of rusted materials strewn behind Moner, Bay and Squeeks. The filmmaker captioned the image, “My talented young co-star of Transformers, Isabela Moner. And introducing a new character, Squeeks.. #transformers #markwahlberg #isabelamoner.”
Meanwhile, Mark Wahlberg who starred as Cage Yeager in “Transformers: Age of Extinction” will reprise his role in the upcoming film. Fans of this movie franchise will also see a familiar face with Josh Duhamel rejoining the “Transformers” film series. Avid fans may recall Duhamel playing the character William Lennox in the first three installments of the movie.
Apart from Wahlberg, Duhamel and Moner, veteran Hollywood star Anthony Hopkins has also joined the upcoming movie. Jerrod Carmichael has also signed on for “Transformers 5,” as well as Laura Haddock.
In other news, the cast and crew of “Transformers: The Last Knight” are said to be filming some of the scenes in Detroit this summer. Casting coordinator Maryellen Aviano has even shared in an interview with Fox 2 that they were looking for local residents to join the film as extras. She explained that they were trying to find “as many local people” that they can hire for the movie. "Michael Bay loves Detroit and loves the iconic landmarks and the architecture,” Aviano added.
“Transformers: The Last Knight” is expected to hit movie theaters on June 23, 2017.
