Tristan Thompson slapped a libel lawsuit against Kimberly Alexander, the woman who claims the basketball player is the father of her child and that the paternity test he took was tinkered.
Thompson’s lawyer, Marty Singer, filed a libel suit. He reportedly wants a jury trial for the woman, who initially wanted the Cleveland Cavaliers star to take a paternity test, and seeks damages and legal expenses. According to legal documents obtained by PageSix, Alexander was described as someone wanting to have her 15 minutes of fame by saying that her almost-5-year-old child is Thompson’s.
The lawsuit further explained that the paternity test, which was negative, should have been enough to shut Alexander down, but she remained persistent with her malicious claims. Apparently, Thompson didn’t believe he was the father of the child, but he “voluntarily” underwent the procedure to determine the truth.
“Alexander has persisted in publicly proclaiming that Thompson is her child’s father and she has maliciously accused Thompson of being a deadbeat dad, ‘neglecting’ and failing to take financial responsibility for the child since birth,” the lawsuit read.
The libel lawsuit came after Thompson and Khloe Kardashian obtained a cease and desist letter against the accuser, asking Alexander to stop defaming them or they will have to push through with a legal action, E! News reported.
The documents further revealed that after the result of the paternity test came out, Alexander took to social media to share the sensitive data and to say that she wasn’t after Kardashian nor Thompson’s money. She further expressed her disappointment and hinted that the result was sabotaged.
Upon learning of the cease and desist letter, Alexander said the issue lies in Thompson’s choice of a testing center that is allegedly associated with Kardashian. He could have gone to a neutral facility but still opted to do the paternity test at a specific site.
Alexander further said that Thompson knows what happened between the two of them.
Kardashian’s name got dragged when the woman in question accused her of paying people to falsify the results of the paternity test. The reality star and Thompson have been social distancing together with their 2-year-old daughter, True.
