Troian Bellisario Shares Why Wedding With Patrick J. Adams Was Called ‘Fort Day’
Troian Bellisario has tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Patrick J. Adams in an intimate ceremony with friends and family in a remote location.
Among the many fun details of the couple’s rustic celebration were the tents that served as rooms for their guests. The wedding was also called “Fort Day.” Bellisario took to Instagram to share the reason behind their choice to center their wedding on a fort or camping theme.
“Eight years ago we were two friends who has [sic] shared very little time together,” Bellisario said. “We were tired and overworked and just wanted to have some peace and quiet. So he invited me over to his apartment where he had built us a pillow fort. He stapled sheets and Christmas lights to the ceiling. We shut the door to the world outside. We didn’t answer our phones. And over pancakes and movies, long late night conversations and sleep, we got to know each other a little better.”
Bellisario added that spending time in a fort has become an annual tradition for them and that their wedding felt like sharing a fort with people who are dearest to them.
Adams teased their wedding in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in August, saying they are definitely planning to tie the knot before the year ends.
The two had a long engagement. After agreeing to marry in 2014, the two took their time to focus on their projects first. Bellisario told Wonderwall that she and Adams were not in a hurry to wed because they already felt like they were married and that they just needed a party to celebrate their union. The “Pretty Little Liars” actress also said that they want to spend time with each other and not get overwhelmed with the wedding planning because they spend most of the year apart.
Bellisario and Adams met on the set of “Equivocation” in 2009.
