‘True Detective’ Season 2 Spoilers: Check Out 4 Potential Character Descriptions For New Season
Rust Cohle who? That’s what “True Detective” fans will find themselves saying after they take a glimpse at the intricately complicated characters of Season 2, leaked by The Wrap. But before we dive into the four central roles rumored to appear in the HBO anthology’s upcoming installment lets talk about the actors and actresses who are in the talks to portray those alluring characters.
Yesterday, it was reported that funny-man Vince Vaughn was being considered for one of the four main roles, joining Elisabeth Moss, Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch in the most convincing group of alleged-Season 2 actors we’ve seen thus far. And their rumored participation in the second season of “True Detective” will only become more apparent when you see the correlation between the actors to the character’s they will be potentially depicting.
1. Ani Bezzerides (Elisabeth Moss): Ani is a Monterey sheriff with a troubled past that has lead her down a dark road of gambling and alcohol addiction, according to Vanity Fair.
Why Moss?: Moss has proved just how eclectic her acting skills are when the “Mad Men” star appeared in the psychological-thriller, “Top of the Lake.” The Sundance miniseries followed the story of a detective (played by Moss) who investigated the case of a 12-year-old pregnant girl who disappeared. Moss won a Golden Globe for her chilling portrayal as Det. Robin Griffin.
2. Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell): Little is known about Ray other than he’s another damaged detective to appear on Season 2 of “True Detective.”
Why Farrell?: This will allow Farrell, whose participation in the second season was confirmed by IMDb, to showcase just how wild he can really be on camera. We can’t wait to see Farrell get pushed to his limits.
3. Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch): A young, handsome veteran who will possibly be our third detective. And yes, he’s rumored to be damaged, too.
Why Kitsch?: Not only does Kitsch have the face of a red carpet star but he’s also got the acting chops to back it up. Kitsch has given viewers something to swoon over with his roles in productions such as “The Normal Heart,” “Lone Survivor,” and “Friday Night Lights.”
4. Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn): Season 2’s central antagonist on “True Detective” will be smart, savvy and a wee-bit shady. OK, maybe very shady. Frank is known as a former thug-turned-businessman who is using his corrupt power and charming ways to influence politicians in installing a railway between Northern and South California. Why is Frank so concerned with transportation? Well, looks like he’ll be the one reaping all the financial benefits.
Why Vaughn?: Vaughn may be the King of rom-coms but he’s actually dabbled in the world of thrillers. For those of you who don’t know, Vaughn took on the role of Norman Bates in the 1998 remake of Hitchcock’s iconic film, “Psycho.” So, for fans who can’t picture Vaughn as a crook just remember he once stabbed a girl in the shower.
