Former President Donald Trump has claimed he could end the war between Russia and Ukraine as well as a possible World War III if he is re-elected in 2024.

Speaking during his campaign stop in South Carolina on Saturday, Trump claimed he could negotiate a "peace deal" between Russia and Ukraine in a day. He also claimed he could prevent World War III and "bring back peace through strength."

"Through weakness and incompetence, Joe Biden has brought us to the brink of World War III. We're at the brink of World War III, just in case anybody doesn't know it. As president, I will bring back peace through strength," Trump said.

"If I was president, there would not have been a war with Russia and Ukraine. I would have a peace deal negotiated within 24 hours," he added.

Trump's campaign comes days after he criticized the U.S. and Germany for committing M1 Abrams and Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine to support its defenses amid reports that Russia is preparing to launch another major offensive.

In the same post on his Truth Social account, Trump further suggested that offering tanks to Ukraine could lead to the use of nuclear weapons. He ended his remark by claiming that it would be "easy" to end the war but did not provide any suggestions on how peace would be accomplished.

"FIRST COME THE TANKS, THEN COME THE NUKES. Get this crazy war ended, NOW. So easy to do," Trump wrote in his post.

Earlier this month, the former president also criticized the United States for giving too much military aid to Ukraine amid its war against Russia.

"The good old USA "suckers" are paying a VAST majority of the NATO bill, & outside money, going to Ukraine. VERY UNFAIR!" he wrote on Truth Social, as reported by Business Insider.

To date, the U.S. has committed over $27.4 billion in military aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden administration and more than $26.7 billion since Russia launched its full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, 2022, as per the U.S. Department of Defense.
