  • Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani can't tie the knot just yet.
  • Gavin Rossdale isn't blocking Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's wedding.
  • Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani want to get married soon.

Gwen Stefani’s ex-husband was recently accused of blocking the singer’s marriage to Blake Shelton.

Earlier this year, InTouch Weekly published a bogus report saying that Rossdale doesn’t want to agree to Stefani’s request for an annulment because he doesn’t want his ex-wife to marry her longtime boyfriend.

At that time, the fabricated story was already debunked since Stefani and Rossdale actually have an amicable relationship with each other. In fact, Rossdale previously said that he only wants to see his ex-wife happy.

And just this week, a lawyer weighed in on Stefani and Rossdale’s failed marriage by suggesting that their annulment has not been processed due to legal reasons and not because Rossdale is blocking it.

While speaking with Hollywood Life, California-based family lawyer Kelly Chang Rickert said that Stefani doesn’t qualify for an annulment under the California law. But since her divorce is already final, it shouldn’t be an issue for her future marriage to Shelton.

“The Catholic Church has its own rules regarding annulments that Gwen would need to follow. But to be clear, if the Church approves her annulment, it will not change her legal status as divorced by the family court,” the lawyer said.

Meanwhile, a source also told People that it is Stefani’s Catholic faith and not Rossdale that’s preventing her from marrying Shelton. After all, the No Doubt singer wants her second wedding to take place in a church.

At the end of the day, the most important thing for the couple at the moment is that they connect with each other. The source said that Shelton and Stefani are convinced that they are right for each other, and it’s only a matter of time before they announce their engagement.

While their fans are waiting for their idols to tie the knot, they would be delighted to know that Stefani and Shelton recently purchased their first home but it is still being renovated.
