While long-time fans of the classic youth comedy series “Friends” want to see their favorite show return to the small screen, rumors that its production is being delayed by a feud between one of the show’s stars, Jennifer Aniston and its co-creator Marta Kauffman is wholly false, Gossip Cop reported.

The rumor was initially started by an article in the NW magazine, which suggested that the real reason a “Friends” reunion was stalled was because Aniston did not share a cordial relationship with Kauffman.

“Jen has a difficult relationship with Marta,” the publication cited an alleged insider as saying. “Jen always believed Marta took more credit that she deserved for the show’s success and steers well clear of her.”

“Their rift became permanent in the final year of the series when Jen opted to appear in fewer episodes so she could focus on her movie career,” the insider further added.

However, Gossip Cop pointed out this could not be further from the truth as according to the official IMDB page for “Friends,” Aniston starred in all 236 episodes of the sitcom over its 10-season run. Hence, the insider suggesting that the actress made fewer appearances was bogus.

Also, every time Aniston or Kauffman shut down rumors about a “Friends” reunion in the past, never did either one of them mentions any existing feud between them as the reason the cult comedy was not making it back to the small screen.

In a 2016 interview with Deadline, the showrunner said they will never do a reunion because every TV series had a “lifespan” and “Friends” had exhausted its own. She added, “there’s no reason to continue doing it just because people miss the characters. And there’s no way it would be satisfying and it’ll never happen.”

In fact, contrary to the rumors, Aniston has been far more open to the prospect of a potential “Friends” reboot in the recent times than Kauffman. When talk show host Ellen DeGeneres asked the actress about a possibility of a reunion in February on her show, Aniston did not completely dismiss it right away.

“Anything is a possibility, Ellen. Anything,” she said.

She gave a similar reply in an interview with InStyle magazine in September. “I fantasize about it,” the actress admitted. “It really was the greatest job I ever had.”

Moreover, putting an end to the flying rumors, a spokesperson for Aniston told Gossip Cop it was “absolutely false” that the actress and the showrunner were feuding and it was definitely not affecting the return of the show.

“Jen is a huge fan of Marta and has kept in touch over the years,” the spokesperson said.
