The Truth About Meghan Markle’s Rumored Feud With Victoria Beckham
Although Meghan Markle is often praised for her trendy fashion statements and choice of designers, the Duchess of Sussex has not intentionally snubbed Victoria Beckham by refusing to wear her clothing line.
A new article appears to be using an old statement Markle made about Beckham’s designs to fuel rumors the two have been in an ongoing battle. Woman’s Day New Zealand published a report claiming the women are at odds after the royal refused to add pieces from the former Spice Girls’ collection to her wardrobe.
“Victoria has been trying to not take things personally, but when Meghan refused to wear the latest frock she sent her, she decided to reach out directly,” a mysterious source told the tabloid.
The alleged insider suggested Beckham was disappointed her husband David’s friendship with Prince Harry didn’t help her relationship with Markle.
“Harry is good friends with David Beckham, so Victoria always assumed she and Meghan would become pals too. But Posh has been left hurt and appalled by the way she thinks Meghan has treated her. She’s fuming.”
The supposed confidant went on to claim Beckham penned a letter to Markle asking why she has not worn her clothes, but the former “Suits” star is “actively ignoring” the singer’s attempts to forge a friendship.
Despite the reports, a rep for Beckham told Gossip Cop the article was “untrue.” The fact-checking website also noted Markle discussed sizing issues she had with the 44-year-old’s dresses during her 2017 interview with Glamour but did not snub the designer.
“I love Victoria Beckham dresses, but I don’t have the long torso to support that silhouette,” Markle told the publication at the time.
Since then, Markle, who is currently pregnant with her first child, has not only worn a sweater designed by Beckham in her engagement photo, but she was also spotted wearing the same top a few months after the royal wedding, which Beckham and her husband attended.
Meanwhile, it isn’t likely that Beckham would be too concerned with one person refusing to wear items from her collection. Last week, the designer was honored with the Fashion Icon award at the 2018 People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
