  • The track named "Scientist" was written by singer/songwriter Anne-Marie

K-pop girl group Twice’s newly-launched album "Formula of Love: O+T=<3" has landed at No. 3 on Billboard 200, marking their increasing success abroad.

This is the second time the nine-member group reached the top 10 of Billboard 200 -- the weekly ranking of the most popular albums in the U.S. Previously, their mini-album "Taste of Love," which was released in June, had ranked No. 6 on the Billboard 200, becoming the group’s first album to gain success in the U.S.

“Formula of Love: O+T=<3” made Twice the third female K-pop act to chart in the top 10 of Billboard 200 following Blackpink’s “The Album.”

MRC Data, which provides music sales information, noted “Formula of Love: O+T=<3” earned a total of 66,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on Nov. 18. This consisted of 58,000 traditional album sales and 8,000 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units — which translated to 12 million on-demand audio streams over the course of the week, Soompi cited.

The album contains the title track “Scientist,” which was written by English singer and songwriter Anne-Marie, who also sang the smash hit “2002.”

The music video of "Scientist" is now nearing 55 million views after it premiered on YouTube on Nov. 12.

The group’s first English single, “The Feels,” which was included in the album “Formula of Love: O+T=<3,” was their first song ever to chart on Billboard’s Hot 100 in October.

"The song is about the feelings that you get when you have love, and when you fall in love at first sight. It's very addictive,” rapper Chaeyoung told People.

Twice was formed in 2015 through the reality show “Sixteen,” aimed at launching the members of a new girl group under the agency, JYP Entertainment. Its members -- Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Tzuyu and Chaeyoung -- were pitted against seven other hopefuls on the basis of talent and audience impact.

The group’s name was coined by JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin-Young, saying that the new girl group will touch people’s hearts twice: once through their eyes and once again through their ears.

The singers debuted in October 2015 with their EP, “The Story Begins.”

It was in December 2020 when the girl group first appeared on Billboard 200 with their album “Eyes Wide Open” which placed at No. 72 making them the third K-pop act to break within the top 100 of the chart following 2NE1 and Blackpink.
