“Twin Peaks” star Harry Dean Stanton passed away on Friday while at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. He was 91.

According to Stanton’s rep, the cult actor died of natural causes. In a statement, the actor’s rep said that he is survived by his family and all of those people who love him. He was described as a “beloved in the entertainment industry” and as “meticulous” person especially when it comes to preparations.

Entertainment Weekly revealed that Stanton never got married, but in a 2006 interview, he was asked if he had children. The “Lucky” star joked about having one or two children that he may not know of. At that time, Nicolas Cage shared his thoughts about Stanton after they starred in “Wild at Heart.” Cage also directed Stanton in “Sonny.”

“Harry Dean exudes a spiritual awareness that’s steeped in deep sadness, and it’s so compelling to watch on film. He’s a compelling man to be around as well because he defies a lot of laws. It’s remarkable to me that he’s into his 70s and is still up all night. He came over to my house once and we had some drinks. I had a motorcycle in my living room, and he got on and straddled it like he was all of 18 years old. I remember just thinking, ‘How is he doing this? Why is he doing this? How is it possible?’” he said.

Meanwhile, Stanton has starred in some of David Lynch’s projects, namely, The Straight Story and Inland Empire, according to BBC. Lynch echoed Cage’s impressions of Stanton and said, “The great Harry Dean Stanton has left us. There went a great one. There’s nobody like Harry Dean. Everyone loved him. And with good reason. He was a great actor (actually beyond great) – and a great human being – so great to be around him. You are really going to be missed Hary Dean!!! Loads of love to you wherever you are now!!!”

Stanton’s other TV credits included “Alice,” “Big Love,” “Hotel Room” and “Dead Man’s Walk.” Other movies that he starred in included “Alien,” “Paris, Texas,” “Cool Hand Luke” and more.
