  • Twitter users appeared unsurprised by Kody's admission he's considering giving up the lifestyle for a one-on-one connection

Some "Sister Wives" fans were not surprised by Kody Brown's recent admission that he's considering giving up the polygamous lifestyle for a one-on-one connection.

In a preview of Sunday's reunion episode of the TLC hit, obtained by People, the 52-year-old first spoke about his now-ex-wife Christine Brown's disdain for plural marriage. Kody said he felt Christine was living a double life by publicly promoting the lifestyle while privately saying she wanted to be free of it, which he said made him "angry as hell."

"When you really start getting honest, you start looking up to the heavens and going, 'Geez, Father. You inspired me to do this. Why is it such a mess now?'" Kody said during the one-on-one reunion special. "It really has set me on my heels and had me questioning the lifestyle itself. It's a challenge."

Reunion host Sukanya Krishnan then asked if the reality star is questioning the practice for himself, to which Kody replied, "Oh, hell yes — yes. I question it all the time."

Fans of the show appeared unsurprised by Kody's admission, pointing to his recent focus on his fourth wife Robyn Brown, 43, the only spouse to which he is legally wed. Kody also still has an unofficial "spiritual union" with first wife Meri Brown, 51, and second wife Janelle Brown, 52, following his split from Christine.

"He's not living as a 'polygamist.' He has only one wife, legally and in every sense of the word, crying Robyn," one person commented. "As for Meri and Janelle, they are nothing more than baby mamas as he does NOT have an intimate relationship with either of them. They need to grow some [and] follow Christine."

"He just wants Robyn now... This family should [have] never let her in," another claimed.

"$50 he eventually 'divorces' the other two women and just sticks with his only legal one," a third user suggested.

"It has been obvious to everyone, except them apparently, that he only wants Robyn…I mean it can’t be more obvious," another fan commented.

"The only wife he is intimate with is Robyn!!! That's freaking not OK!!! Four wives! Make it fair or leave them all," a fifth user wrote.

Kody and Christine announced their split in November 2021 after a total of 25 years together and six children — Asypen, 26, Mykelti, 25, Paedon, 23, Gwendlyn, 20, Ysabel, 18, and Truely, 11.

Christine didn't hide her unhappiness with their setup on "Sister Wives," saying in a previous episode that she felt Kody already had a happy family with Robyn despite having three other wives.

"Why would I want to live on a property with a dysfunctional marriage while right over there he has a fully functional marriage? Who would ever want to live like that?" Christine said in the teaser for "Sister Wives" Season 13, weeks before they publicized their split.

While a number of fans were surprised by the breakup, unnamed sources close to the Browns told Us Weekly that the family was not shocked at all. One source claimed that Christine had been in the process of leaving Kody for a while and that Robyn played a huge role in their split.

"The big reason why she split from him is because Kody has been completely devoted to Robyn [Brown] for the past five or six years. That hasn’t changed at all," the tipster said.

"Sister Wives" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
