Twitter Reacts To Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's 'Money-Making Schemes' Before Megxit: 'We Call Those Jobs'

Twitter users reacted to a report claiming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle already planned ways to make money from commercial deals even when they were still working royals.

Dan Wootton published a report on Daily Mail quoting unnamed sources who said they were aware of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's commercial conversations long before Megxit. The royal couple was allegedly already planning how to make millions even when they were still full-time working royals. It was deemed wrong because it allegedly goes against the firm's rules.

Daily Beast said the allegation about the couple's "money-making schemes" is only one of a series of new charges made by the couple's disgruntled former employees and should be taken with a grain of salt. The outlet reached out to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokesperson but did not get a response.

International Business Times could also not independently verify the reports.

Meanwhile, Twitter users have mixed opinions on the matter. Some slammed the couple for planning a life outside the U.K. while they were still serving the monarchy.

"Well, it seems to me that Meghan Markle was not suicidal as she claimed in the Oprah interview, as they were clearing the way to make millions-they had every reason to marry quickly and start signing deals. I am sorry the Queen [had to] experience these lies, threats & cruelties," one commented.

"Planning a life outside the RF, is a choice they made. However, by making that move based on trashing the family and making $$$$ doing this is not what I expected. It's sad, it shows by hiring all these professionals to propel them, they don't have the depth themselves," another added.

"So sick of these 2 ugh," a third user wrote.

However, more netizens supported the Sussexes’ decision after learning about the reports. For them, planning for one's future, like what Prince Harry and Markle did before Megxit, is not a problem because they were only figuring out how they would support themselves moving forward, and it’s what most people do with their lives. Also, they were irked by the Daily Beast’s move to use the term "money-making schemes" when the royal couple was just planning how to make money for their family.

"LOL 'money-making schemes'—we call those 'jobs.' They knew they were going to have to work for a living after leaving. As if the whole royal enterprise isn't one giant money-making scheme," Genetta Adams tweeted.

"Duh. Shouldn't everyone plan important events in their lives?! Of course, they did. Why wouldn't they? Is planning a bad thing? This is a real stretch at trying to make Meghan and Harry look bad. Give it up," another user commented.

"SCHEMED? Did I scheme to make a living and support the kid? It is called making a living. Please expand your vocabulary," a third user added.

Prince Harry and Markle have been plagued with numerous false rumors, so one should take the recent allegation against the royal couple with a grain of salt. Last week, Daily Mail claimed Prince Harry had a four-book deal and would release his second memoir after the Queen’s death, but the duke denied them. Prince Harry’s spokesperson said contrary to "false media reports," he is only working on one memoir.
