  • Twitter users speculated that Taylor Swift's "Dorothea" is about her close friend, Selena Gomez
  • One fan claimed the song's title may be a reference to Gomez's favorite childhood movie, "The Wizard of Oz"
  • "Dorothea's" lyrics also mention a "queen sellin' dreams, sellin' makeup and magazines" that could be referring to Gomez

Taylor Swift dropped a new album, "Evermore," last week, and her fans are speculating that one of its songs is about her close pal, Selena Gomez.

When Swifties heard her new track "Dorothea," it immediately reminded them of Gomez. Fans dissected the lyrics and were all the more convinced that the song is connected to the "Rare" singer.

Several took to Twitter and shared some of the "clues" in the lyrics that hint at the subject of "Dorothea."

One fan pointed out that the line, "You'rе a queen sellin' dreams, sellin' makeup and magazines," may refer to Gomez. "Selena recently launched her beauty line ‘Rare Beauty’, and was acclaimed for the quality of it. She’s also been on several magazine covers this year," the fan explained.

Another fan believes that the lyrics, "You got shiny friends since you left town/A tiny screen's the only place I see you now/And I got nothing but well-wishes for ya," is related to Swift's longtime pal.

The Twitter user pointed out that though they recently reunited virtually on Gomez's cooking show, Swift and her friend haven't been seen publicly together in almost two years.

Another fan speculated that Swift gave the song the title “Dorothea” because Gomez’s favorite movie is “The Wizard of Oz,” which follows Dorothy’s journey in the Land of Oz.

"THE SONG IS CALLED DOROTHEA BECAUSE SELENA’S FAVORITE MOVIE IS THE WIZARD OF OZ AND THE MAIN CHARACTER IS DOROTHY," the Twitter user speculated.

"Ok now I really think Dorothea is about Selena cuz Taylor sings ‘but are you still the same soul I met under the bleachers’ and her and Selena met at a Jonas brothers concert," another netizen shared.

Swift and Gomez have remained close over the years and openly support each other's projects. In 2017, Swift made a cameo in Gomez's music video for "Bad Liar."

Fans were also convinced that Gomez hinted she was Team Swift in the music video for her song "Boyfriend after the latter's feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian resurfaced.

In August, Gomez called Swift during an episode of her HBO Max series "Selena + Chef" to show off her dish to her BFF, which got the latter excited.

"If you don’t send me the recipe, we’re going to have words. I want to be served that," Swift told Gomez.
