The Two Men Accused Of Killing UK Soldier Lee Rigby Appear Before The Old Bailey In London
Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, appeared by video link at the Old Bailey, formerly known as the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, in London this morning accused of the murder of British solider Lee Rigby.
The two men were screened via video link from separate rooms in London's Bellmarsh prison. They are both accused of murdering the 25-year-old drummer from Middleton, Greater Manchester, outside Woolwich barracks in London.
Rigby was hacked to death in broad daylight just 100 yards from his barracks as onlookers watched on.
The killing has started intense investigations around Britain that has involved more than 500 police officers, investigators and counter-terrorism officials. Two men were arrested on Friday in connection with the case.
Rigby’s family were present during the 20-minute hearing as the accused testified while flanked by two prison officers.
Adebojalo, whose left arm appeard to be in a cast, is also on trial for the possession of a firearm with the intent to cause others to believe that violence would be used and the attempted murder of two police officers.
They will appear again at the Old Bailey on the Sept. 27 for a preliminary hearing.
