Typhoon Chaba 2016 Update: Deadly Storm Hits South Korea In Busan, Jeju, Heads Toward Japan [VIDEO]
At least three people were killed by Typhoon Chaba in South Korea on Wednesday, and the Ministry of Public Safety and Security expects the death toll to rise, Reuters reported.
The typhoon hit Jeju, a resort island popular with Chinese tourists, with heavy winds and rain early Wednesday. South Korea’s second-largest city, Busan, and Ulsan, another major city, were also hit hard by the storm.
More than 210,000 households have lost power because of the storm, and many flights in the area have been cancelled, the Korea Herald reported.
Authorities in Tokyo issued storm and heavy rain warnings on Wednesday as Typhoon Chaba heads toward Japan, packing gusts of wind up to 110 miles per hour, Japan's weather agency said.
