Renowned streamer and content creator Typical Gamer is not going anywhere.
Typical Gamer, whose real name is Andre Rebelo, has reached an exclusive deal with YouTube to continue streaming in the platform. He made the announcement in a YouTube video, sharing his love for gaming and praising the community he has been part of for being accepting and supportive.
“Gaming has always been really big for me. I’ve been streaming on YouTube since the day live stream came out. When I started, I had really no hopes or plans, I’m just a kid who to play games. I’m so shocked about how well I was doing, I knew it was something that I was super passionate about and I wanted to continue doing,” Rebelo shared.
“The community on YouTube has absolutely changed my life. I’ve been given a lot of questions if I’ll switch to this or switching to that: I’ve been here since the start, and I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be streaming exclusively on YouTube Gaming.”
In the same video, Typical Gamer also paid a visit to a fan born with a heart problem. Rebelo surprised the fan and played a little game of Fortnite with him before announcing that he’ll be donating $10,000 to Extra Life, a charity organization that aims to help sick and injured children.
Rebelo started his YouTube channel in 2008 and made it grow through videos of him playing Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption and more. He has also transitioned to doing live streams, and over the past few years, he has risen to prominence with the popular battle royal game Fortnite.
As of writing, he has over 9 million subscribers on YouTube.
Typical Gamer is now one of the popular streamers to land exclusive deals on different platforms as the demand for gaming content continues to rise. One of the biggest deals in the community, perhaps, is Ninja’s signing with Mixer.
Ninja, who also often streams Fortnite, reportedly reached an exclusive deal to leave Twitch and move to Microsoft’s live-stream service. The contract with Mixer would reportedly pay him $20 to $30 million.
