Tyrese Gibson's Mother Dies After Battling COVID-19, Pneumonia; Singer Shares Emotional Tribute [Watch]

Tyrese Gibson is mourning the loss of his mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson, who died Monday after battling COVID-19.

The 43-year-old singer shared an emotional video of him rubbing his mother's hand while she was admitted to a hospital with COVID-19 and pneumonia.

"Rest in peace mom," the singer said in the one-minute video. "You fought, mom. You fought. Oh my god, I’m so sorry this happened, mom. Jesus."

"I'm gonna hold your hand for the rest of my life, OK? Everywhere I go, I'm gonna hold your hand the way you held my hand when I was a kid," Gibson added. "Every journey this life takes me to from here on, you’re gonna hold my hand mom, OK?"

The singer also wrote a lengthy caption to the post, saying it was the "saddest moment" of his life.

"My sweet Valentine just passed away," the singer wrote. "May the lord Jesus Christ and his angels open the doors of heavens and embrace her. We as a family are broken and just can't believe this."

Many celebrities took to the comments section to share their condolences.

Singer Alicia Keys wrote, "Praying for u. I'm so sorry for ur loss. I know she's so proud of you. May she rest peacefully. Love you always my friend," while rapper Snoop Dogg commented, "Stay strong I'll come c u this week if u like to pray with u and hug u."

Actor Dwayne Johnson also commented, "So so sorry about this brother. She was so proud of all you are and have become. Deepest condolences & love sent your way to you and your family."

Nicole Scherzinger, Roselyn Sánchez, Smokie Norful, Shekinah Anderson and many others also paid their condolences.

Gibson shared an update last week about the condition of his mother, who was in the intensive care unit. The singer revealed at the time that doctors had informed him there was "nothing else that can be done to turn things around."

Gibson teased his upcoming music album, "Beautiful Pain," on Instagram a few hours before his mother's death.
