Uber New App Update: iOS, Android Redesign Brings Users A More Organized Riding Experience
Uber is rolling out a new mobile app, which it aims to be more organized when you book your ride.
Uber’s first major redesign was in 2012 when the company added a new ride selection to its app. Users had the choice to choose between UberX and UberXL. The app now has several ride types, which users are able to select a pickup location, schedule rides and see how much rides will cost. Uber says it’s trying to offer its users a much better experience.
Uber is adding ride types into different sections. UberPOOL and UberX are under the “Economy” section,” Uber Select and Uber Black are listed under the “Luxury” section.
Using Uber’s newly redesigned app will make it easy to find exactly where you are and can suggest easy to find locations for pickup. The company hopes this will also make things easier for the driver in hopes to save some frustration when you’re trying to look for your driver.
The latest Uber update also gives you an opportunity at having a social life because it will be easier to find your friends. Uber says, “People are the new places.” The company will soon let you type in your friend’s name instead of the destination. The app needs your friend's permission first before adding their location through the Uber app, according to TechCrunch.
In addition, Uber wants to give its passengers a better experience by including integrations with Snapchat, Yelp, Pandora, Foursquare and more. Uber CEO Travis Kalanick told reporters on Tuesday “This is more than a normal app update. We decided earlier this year to do a full rewrite of the app.”
Uber’s new design will be available on iOS and Android in the next several weeks.
