The success of UFC 249 has brought attention to the biggest stars of mixed martial arts. The current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been under the spotlight with a Twitter exchange against Francis Ngannou.

One of the highlights of the recently concluded UFC was Ngannou taking on a dominant display inside the octagon. It took just 20 seconds for Ngannou to knock out his opponent Jairzinho Rozenstruik. The match was wrapped up quickly as Ngannou’s flurry of haymakers brought his opponent down and out.

The impressive win caused a buzz online on Ngannou’s next opponent. One of the teased possibilities includes a matchup against heavyweight icon Daniel Cormier.

"I would love to share the Octagon with Daniel Cormier before he retires," Ngannou said, per TMZ Sports.

The six-foot-four heavyweight has also made it clear that he eventually wants a shot at the title.

"I should be working out now with interim but I don't think there's no time for the interim anymore, its time for the real title," Cormier said.

But with Ngannou swinging with momentum, Jones has been making news himself online. The current light heavyweight champion recently tweeted that he might consider honoring a rematch for Dominick Reyes. It is one of the highly anticipated matches given how their first encounter was met with much controversy.

The noise online has further increased with Jones and Ngannou taking a swipe at each other over Twitter. It started with Jones sharing his thoughts about Ovince Saint Preux fighting at heavyweight.

“I was visualizing myself as him that whole fight,” Jones tweeted.

Ngannou picked up the tweet and he added his thoughts to it.

The confidence in Jones is evident as he brought up that Ngannou’s haymaker strikes are capable of power, but their slow pace is easy to maneuver around.

To further add to this tweet, he replied to those asking how he intends to defeat Ngannou.

“By just being myself,” Jones said.

It has been an interesting few weeks for the UFC and it only takes a matter of time before everyone sees what will happen with MMA's top stars.
