- White feels Jake Paul would be hurt badly if he fights Amanda Nunes
- He says the Paul brothers' fortunes could change once the pandemic is over
UFC president Dana White is still not buying into the idea that YouTubers Jake and Logan Paul are bonafide boxers. He feels that both are just making the most out of the global health crisis and will eventually get their due in the ring.
During an appearance on the “Shout!” podcast, White said he hardly pays attention to what the Paul brothers have been doing. He said he feels that both are not legitimate fighters and that it is all a gimmick, hinting that money is their only motivator. White added that he is clueless regarding the reason why people are paying to watch them but is aware that this is something beyond his control.
“It’s all a big gimmick. Like I said at a press conference, there’s a market for that. If people are dumb enough to spend their money watching that s--t, I don’t know what to tell you. Good luck to them,” White explained.
“I could care less what that guy [says]. I get it. He’s trying to make some money and doing his thing and there’s people out there who want to spend their money on that. I’m not that guy,” he continued.
Most know how younger Paul brother Jake is ambitiously pursuing former UFC champion Conor McGregor. The Notorious has yet to respond, so White recommended someone else to the 23-year-old YouTuber. The name of Amanda Nunes was bluntly suggested, and “The Lioness” was down with it.
Unfortunately, Paul was not enthusiastic about the idea and claimed that Nunes is an unknown. For people who don’t follow the UFC, that would be up for debate. Hence, it is likely that the 23-year-old is simply challenging names that ring a bell in any sport.
Addressing Paul’s claims, White said he thinks otherwise. The UFC president gave a glimpse at the things to come in the event he takes up the offer to face the Brazilian female fighter.
“Amanda Nunes will knock that kid out,” White said. “To even think about that guy fighting, he’s like ‘I’m never going to fight a woman.’ You shouldn’t, because she’ll put you in a coma. The guy is just some kid off the street.”
White went on to say that he feels Paul is just lucky that there is a pandemic. He cautioned that things will be different once things get back to normal. As far as he is concerned, the Paul brothers are nothing more than some kids on YouTube.
“One of the big problems with him right now, he’s lucky there’s a pandemic,” White said. “He’s talking smack about real people. Real people that he could run into at a restaurant some night and things like that. This isn’t a real guy. This is just some kid on YouTube.”
