In mixed martial arts, there are certainly plenty of names who can vouch that they are the GOAT (Greatest of All-Time). Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier certainly seems like a hands-down choice although there are more names such as Demetrious Johnson and Georges St. Pierre who could easily join him. And Jon Jones?

If he is to be asked, Cormier feels that Jones and Anderson Silva do not deserve to be in GOAT conversations. Speaking to TMZ Sports, the 40-year-old reasons out that any time someone gets accused of something, their names should be omitted. Obviously, D.C. is referring to the failed drug tests that have marred Jones career on several occasions.

"I like Anderson. He's a great guy, great champion. Jones, a great fighter. But, any time you have anything attached to your name, I think you should be out. You're not supposed to do it that way," said Cormier.

For the benefit of those who may now know, Jones got embroiled in controversy in 2016 and 2017 with USADA. This resulted in suspensions and also being stripped of the heavyweight title at UFC 214. Silva was also involved in a banned substance issue that ended up seeing him getting suspended.

Cormier will be defending his heavyweight title this coming weekend against Stipe Miocic. It will be a rematch between the two MMA icons with the latter seeking payback after suffering a KO loss in the first round to DC at UFC 226. Whoever wins will likely be thrown Jon Jones questions, looming as the logical next opponent in their division. In a previous post, Miocic is open to facing Bones although he chooses to focus on his upcoming fight with Cormier.

As for Cormier, it will be interesting if his recent comments will spark another word-war with Jones. The two have a history of trading verbal jabs. This would lead to an eventual fight as both try to settle the score inside the Octagon. The only problem with a third fight is that Cormier has hinted of possibly retiring. But if UFC president Dana White wants it, anything can happen since it is a fight that (some) fans would want to see.
