Khabib Nurmagomedov appears to be doing just fine in his new endeavors.
After officially hanging the gloves, Nurmagomedov has become active in helping other mixed martial artists through coaching.
So far, “The Eagle” has already been receiving rave reviews as a coach with the latest coming from his longtime manager Ali Abdelaziz.
According to Abdelaziz, Nurmagomedov isn’t only a great fighter but also a natural-born mentor.
“He’s an entrepreneur, a businessman, he’s coaching his friends,” Abdelaziz told TMZ Sports of Nurmagomedov. “He’s more helping his friends than coaching his friends. I think he’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever seen. He’s an unbelievable coach.”
“He’s a great coach naturally,” he added. “He’s a very disciplined human being. And course having Javier Mendez there to help him [at American Kickboxing Academy], of course, he’s the head coach. Khabib [Nurmagomedov] is never going to take this away from him out of respect.”
Abdelaziz also lauded Nurmagomedov’s humble personality. As per the 43-year-old, Nurmagomedov “loves” what he does and is always there for his fighters.
“He’s just a disciplined human being,” the manager emphasized. “When you have this kind of discipline [that Nurmagomedov has]—the guy is worth so much money and he’s still going to a Bellator event and a UFC event and stays at a $50 dollar hotel at night. He’s got no ego.”
“He loves his friends, he loves his peers, and he’s there for them,” he continued. “You’re going to see a lot of new generation [of fighters] coming from his team. They’re probably going to dominate the UFC or MMA in general.”
Nurmagomedov’s friend and Eagle Fighting Championship president Shamil Zavurov, on the other hand, has recently bared that aside from coaching, the undefeated former UFC champion has also been helping his fellow Russian fighters make their stamp on the sport's global stage.
In fact, Zavurov revealed that Nurmagomedov has been in talks with UFC president Dana White for potential dealings.
"[Nurmagomedov and White] discuss it every time they meet," Zavurov said to the media, including RT Sport, after a recent Eagle FC event. "I believe that at every meeting Khabib will try to get some of our top fighters signed to the UFC.”
"We have an oral agreement with our fighters that if they prove themselves in our league, we will push to get them signed to the UFC,” he continued. “Nobody will hold them in EFC."
