UFC Vs ONE Championship: 10 Dream Super Fights To Rock MMA World
KEY POINTS
- ONE Championship is open to the possibility of having a cross-promotional event with the UFC
- ONE Championship's Chatri Sityodtong has called out the UFC on social media
- The card may feature UFC champions going up against ONE Championship's titleholders
Cross-promotional fights and events between rival mixed martial arts (MMA) organizations are not a new concept. It has happened a few times across history, but it’s extremely rare, despite the fan clamor for such spectacles.
Chatri Sityodtong, the chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, has openly campaigned for a cross-promotion with the UFC for years.
The Singapore-based outfit's official Twitter account recently shared a quote from Sityodtong that drew tons of engagement.
Sityodtong said: “I would definitely welcome a ONE vs. UFC mega event.”
In a follow-up tweet, ONE Championship would tag UFC president Dana White, challenging him to pull the trigger.
A UFC-versus-ONE Championship crossover affair is certainly a fantastic but also highly unlikely affair. Still, it’s fun to speculate. Here are how the two companies’ world champions stack up against each other.

Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Adriano Moraes (Flyweight)
When Demetrious Johnson left the UFC, fans thought the promotion’s flyweight division was done for.
Thankfully, it survived and even birthed a new star in Deiveson Figueiredo, who is now the UFC flyweight kingpin.
A battle against the man who beat Johnson and gave him the first knockout loss of his career--Adriano Moraes--is a salivating offer.
Figueiredo is a capable finisher, while Moraes' ground game absolutely poses a threat in a bout. They are undoubtedly the two best flyweights in the world right now.
Aljamain Sterling vs. Bibiano Fernandes (Bantamweight)
Aljamain Sterling may have earned the UFC bantamweight title in an unconventional manner where he didn't actually beat the previous champion. But he’s holding the belt and not Petr Yan, so there’s that.
Bibiano Fernandes, the longtime bantamweight champion and one of the most dominant athletes on the ONE Championship roster, is a tough matchup for anybody in the game--even at the age of 41.
Alexander Volkanovski vs. Thanh Le (Featherweight)
UFC featherweight ruler Alexander Volkanovski hasn’t tasted defeat in eight years, and he’s only gotten stronger.
That 19-fight winning streak is going to be tough to end. Newly-minted ONE featherweight titlist Thanh Le, who finished former champion Martin Nguyen late last year, presents as a type of competitor who could stand and bang with Volkanovski.
This matchup promises fireworks and one guy will surely get separated from his senses.
Charles Oliveira vs. Christian Lee (Lightweight)
Charles Oliveira’s journey to the UFC lightweight throne is a well-documented one, and with eight finishes in a nine-fight winning streak, he’s a nightmare matchup for anyone.
But young ONE lightweight king Christian Lee has proven himself time and again, against opponents he wasn't supposed to beat.
Lee has all but cleared out the lightweight division in ONE Championship and is a dangerous foe for anyone in the world.

Kamaru Usman vs. Kiamrian Abbasov (Welterweight)
Naming a world champion more dominant other than Kamaru Usman right now will be a tough thing to do.
Usman has established himself as arguably the best welterweight in UFC history, or at least just behind the legendary Georges St-Pierre.
While ONE welterweight titlist Kiamrian Abbasov isn’t a well-known name by any means, he has taken care of business against guys like Yushin Okami, Zebaztian Kadestam and the previously-unbeaten James Nakashima.
Israel Adesanya vs. Reinier de Ridder (Middleweight)
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya bit off more than he could chew against light heavyweight titleholder Jan Blachowicz last March. However, “The Last Stylebender” remains unbeaten in his own division and is still one of the most dangerous strikers on the planet.
But how do you deal with lethal strikers? Pacifying them on the canvas appears to be the go-to remedy, and Reinier de Ridder is one of the best at closing the distance and doing just that.
Jan Blachowicz vs. Reinier de Ridder (Light Heavyweight)
In the same breath, how will Blachowicz’s legendary Polish power fare against the constricting style of De Ridder?
Blachowicz is a certified knockout artist, with freakish knockout power from any position. But he isn’t a one-trick pony and can mix it up with all sorts of styles.
However, no one has been able to escape De Ridder’s web of grappling mastery. The Dutch fighter beat Aung La N Sang in their rematch to capture the ONE light heavyweight belt and reach "champ-champ" status in the promotion.
Francis Ngannou vs. Arjan Bhullar (Heavyweight)
It’s hard to imagine anyone beating UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou right now.
Truth be told, the hulking heavyweight from Cameroon by way of France is a freak of nature. Every strike he throws has evil intent behind it, and he shuts the lights out on everyone he catches with it.
Recently-crowned ONE heavyweight champion Arjan Bhullar defeated veteran Brandon Vera a few weeks ago to claim the title.
Can Bhullar’s wrestling contain the beast that is Ngannou?
Rose Namajunas vs. Xiong Jing Nan (Women’s Strawweight)
UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas is back on top and in a big way by stopping former champion Weili Zhang.
Fans of both organizations have long clamored for a clash between ONE women’s strawweight queen Xiong Jing Nan and Zhang, which would undoubtedly be the biggest Chinese MMA fight in history.
But after Namajunas dethroned Zhang, a battle with Xiong is one that should produce explosive action from start to finish.
Rose Namajunas vs. Angela Lee (Women’s Strawweight)
The UFC doesn’t have an atomweight division, but ONE women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee is technically a 115-pounder. This warrants a cross-promotional clash against Namajunas.
Lee’s grappling is leagues better than her striking and is a tricky proposition for anyone on the ground with her.
The question is, would she be able to bring Namajunas into her submission wheelhouse? There’s only one way to find out.
