Ukraine's army successfully bombed a Russian military airfield in the temporarily occupied region of Zaporizhzhia, killing over 100 soldiers and destroying several pieces of equipment.

In a Telegram post, the Berdiask City Military Administration said the Wednesday's bombing of the airfield located in the city also caused damages to the Russian army's weapons storage and a radar station.

"We have received updated information from our defenders about yesterday's explosions: the airfield was hit. Our soldiers killed more than 100 occupiers with this attack," the post read, as translated by Ukrainska Pravda. "A storage point for ammunition, fuels and lubricants, as well as a radar station, had been damaged."

Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February last year. Since then, the Russian army has lost a total of 135,010 military personnel, including 910 soldiers who were killed over the past day, as per estimates from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to the Ukrainian ministry's estimates, Russia has lost 3,255 tanks, 6,468 combat armored machines, 2,244 artillery systems, 1,967 UAVs and 5,121 vehicles and fuel tanks in the war.

As of Thursday, Russia launched a new major offensive in eastern Ukraine with the aim of breaking through the defenses of Ukrainian forces near the town of Kreminna in Luhansk Oblast, the region's governor Serhiy Haidai said on Ukrainian TV, as per The Guardian.

"These attacks are practically a daily occurrence. We see small groups [of Russian soldiers] trying to advance, sometimes with the support of heavy armor – infantry fighting vehicles and tanks – and sometimes not. There is continuous firing," he said.

He claimed, however, that Russia's offensive did not work and that Ukrainian defenders were able to fend off the attack.

Russia also launched an offensive in the cities of Bakhmut and Vuhledar in Donetsk. However, the attacks also failed due to Ukraine's minefields and artillery fire. The attack resulted in heavy losses among the Russian army, which left behind 30 tanks and BMPs during their retreat, according to Forbes.
