Ukraine Is Reaching Out To This Country In Attempt To Boost Energy Resources

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Velenskyy is reaching out to Qatar to increase the country’s production of natural gas and energy exports to neutralize the deprivation of Russian resources in the midst of sanctions as a result of the war.

“They can do much to restore justice. The future of Europe depends on your effort,” Zelenskyy said in an unexpected virtual appearance at Qatar’s Doha Forum. Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani clarified his position on the war, calling it "unjust" and expressing like-mindedness with Ukrainians.

Qatar Energy CEO Saad Sherida al-Kaab later stated, however, that it is improbable that the country could come to Europe's aid right away.

“Russian troops mine fields in Ukraine, blow up agricultural machinery, destroy fuel reserves needed for sowing. They blocked our seaports," Zelenskyy added. "Why are they doing this?”

Earlier this week, the U.S. government formally accused Russia of being responsible for war crimes.

“Russia’s forces have destroyed apartment buildings, schools, hospitals, critical infrastructure, civilian vehicles, shopping centers, and ambulances, leaving thousands of innocent civilians killed or wounded,” Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said. “Russian President Vladimir Putin has unleashed unrelenting violence that has caused death and destruction across Ukraine.”

Last week, President Joe Biden referred to Putin as a “war criminal,” calling his actions “atrocities” and “an outrage to the world.”
