A government agency responsible for the national road system in Ukraine said it is removing road signs to confuse and stop invading Russian troops from finding their way around the country.
The Ukrainian company, Ukravtodor, also urged road organizations, communities and local authorities to take action and tear down road signs to stop enemy tanks.
“The enemy has a miserable connection; they do not navigate the terrain. Let's help them go straight to hell,” the agency wrote on Facebook, as quoted by LADbible.
“Priority #1 - signs with names of settlements. We will pass the collected signs to local authorities and road workers,” the post added.
Ukravtodor’s post also included an edited photo of a standard road sign; but, in place of directions to cities closeby, the sign read profanities directed at invading Russian forces.
"Go f--- yourself," "Go f--- yourself again" and "Go f--- yourself back in Russia,” read the translations of the edited photo, according to Reuters.
John Hudson, writer for the Washington Post, wrote on Twitter about a similar message that Ukraine’s armed forces posted to the public.
“WE DISORIENT THE ENEMY TOGETHER! In order to confuse and disorient the enemy who is illegally moving on the roads of Ukraine, we call on citizens to take the following initiative,” said the message, according to Hudson’s tweet.
“Remove signs with numbers and names of streets/towns/villages in their regions. We will do everything possible for the speedy cleansing of Ukraine from the Russian occupier. Please spread as much as possible!”
In efforts to defend their country against the Russian invasion, Ukrainian civilians are also manufacturing Molotov cocktails using a recipe shared by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, according to Sky News.
A Ukrainian brewery also switched from making beer to making Molotov cocktails.
Employees at the Pravda brewery in western Ukraine's main city Lviv began producing the cocktails for the Ukrainian Territorial Defence Forces on Saturday.
“We do this because someone has to. We have the skills, we went through a street revolution in 2014," said the brewery’s owner, Yuriy Zastavny, making a reference to Kyiv's pro-Western uprising that ousted a Kremlin-backed regime.
"We had to make and use Molotov cocktails then,” Zastavny added.
Molotov cocktails, also known as petrol bombs or poor man's grenades, are breakable glass bottles with combustible substances such as petrol, alcohol, etc. They can be easily produced and used for bottle-based improvised incendiary weapons.
