An ultra-rare Pokemon card is hitting the auction block.

Heritage Auction got one of the most limited Pokemon training cards and it is in auction. The super rare card could reportedly make as much as $100,000, ComicBook first reported.

The 1999 “Pokemon Super Secret Battle No. 1 Trainer” promo hologram card has been graded with a perfect GEM MINT 10. It’s the No. 1 Trainer promo card and is one of the rarest pieces in the history of Pokemon because only 7 were produced.

The cards were rewarded to players who won one of the Pokemon Trading Card Game’s seven regional tournaments and served as their entry ticket to the finals, an exclusive tournament in Tokyo in 1999.

According to TMZ, the card features an art of Mewtwo with a text that read, “The Pokémon Card Game Official Tournament's champion is recognized here, and this honor is praised. By presenting this card, you may gain preferential entry into the Secret Super Battle.”

According to Christian Hoffer, ComicBook’s resident Pokemon expert, the No. 1 Trainer card remains a tradition in the Pokemon Trading Card game. The players earn a version of the card if they win their age division in the World Championships.

It serves as a de facto invitation to the following year’s World Championships. However, the winners no longer need to present it to gain entry to the tournament.

The 1999 “Pokemon Super Secret Battle No. 1 Trainer” card is rarer than the legendary Pikachu Illustrator card, which sold for over $50,000 in the past. Thus, it is expected to sell more. However, according to Hoffer, the trend has changed.

“Despite their continued rarity, more recent No. 1 Trainer cards don't sell for nearly as much as the older cards,” he wrote.

As of press time, the super rare No. 1 Trainer’s promo card’s highest bid is at $15,500. The auction will go on for over two weeks more and the price is expected to steadily increase up until the end date.
