‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Season 2 Spoilers: New Cast Members, Celebrity Cameos Revealed In Promo Photos
It really doesn’t get much better than this! On April 15, our favorite “mole woman” will return to the small screen for Season 2 of the Netflix original series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” But Ellie Kemper, who portrays the red-haired protagonist in the side-splitting sitcom, won’t be the only actress making us laugh in the upcoming installment.
Netflix recently released a slew of photos from Season 2 of the Tina Fey and Robert Carlock series, revealing which red carpet stars will join the cast of the Emmy Award-nominated comedy. The gallery reveals “Pitch Perfect” star Anna Camp will be making her way to New York as a Princeton alum, trophy wife.
In the image above, Camp’s character Deirdre Robespierre is seen standing next to Jane Krakowski’s Jacqueline Voorhees. But don’t assume these blond bombshells will be sharing that bottle of wine Deirdre’s holding. According to TVLine, the two are “bitter rivals.” Could Deirdre be the mistress of Jacqueline’s cheating husband?
Another actor who is set to appear in Season 2 of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is “Portlandia” star Fred Armisen, who will take on the role of Lillian’s (Carol Kane) ex-lover Bobby. According to the photos, Armisen’s character will help Lillian let her hair down, which will be quite necessary after her tense encounter with Sue and Bob Thompstein (Zosia Mamet, “Girls,” and Evan Jonigkeit, “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.”)
The Thompsteins are a flannel-sporting, hipster couple from Austin who travel to New York. And we have a feeling Lillian will find them more foreign than Kimmy who was locked in a bunker for 15 years.
“Kung Fu Panda” star David Cross will also appear in the sophomore season of the Netflix series as an attorney named Russ Snyder, while Jeff Goldblum (“Independence Day”) will play the role of Dr. Dave, a talk show host who has his interest piqued by Kimmy and the story of the Mole Women.
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” will stream to Netflix on Friday, April 15. Check out the trailer for Season 2 below:
