'Uncharted 5' Likely To Be Released? Former Series Director Hopes So
“Uncharted” director Bruce Straley still believes that Naughty Dog can make another entry for the game series if it wanted to. Even after leaving the company last 2017, he said Naughty Dog could still continue one of its blockbuster series in the future. With the advent of the next generation of PlayStation, fans can only hope for another adventure with a potential "Uncharted 5."
In a GamesRadar interview with Straley, the former NaughtyDog director said he is still interested in seeing another “Uncharted” entry. The director said he does not really care if it’s going to be another adventure with series protagonist Nathan Drake or another spinoff like “Uncharted: Lost Legacy.”
During its prime, the “Uncharted” series was one of the console’s crowning glories and almost all of its mainline entries gathered awards and accolades for its quality. While playing the game, most of the scenes found in the title were similar to high-stakes, fast-paced action movies where players still have control over their character. For most games, many split-second escapes and other difficult maneuvers were often left for cut scenes.
As of now, Naughty Dog is steadily fanning hype for its upcoming “The Last Of Us 2” that’s going to be released in February 2020. Even though it has not yet been released, many fans are already looking forward to the game’s potential.
Making another “Uncharted” entry could be a great opportunity for its fans to see it again with the new PlayStation 5 on the horizon. Sony has yet to confirm any exclusive games for the upcoming console but many upcoming PlayStation 4 titles are already expected on the new console.
During the early years of the PlayStation, Naughty Dog settled on porting and remastering its PlayStation 3 titles onto the next generation such as the ‘The Last Of Us Remaster” and the “Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection.”
After “The Last Of US 2’s” release, Naughty Dog could now focus again into making a new title or make another “Uncharted” entry. As of now, no official announcement or rumored development has been known to be circling about the company. We have to wait for more announcement to see if Naughty Dog is ready to conclude the series with its fourth entry.
