University Professor Claims Apple Would Release A Foldable iPhone In 'Less Than A Year'
KEY POINTS
- Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola already released their foldable smartphones in the market
- Apple might announce its very own foldable smartphone in the coming months, according to a new report
- Recently discovered Apple document reveals that the company is looking into developing an iPhone with a revolutionary design factor
Apple is one of the most anticipated names in the smartphone industry to introduce its own version of a foldable smartphone. With Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola introducing their foldable smartphones, many are wondering why the Cupertino tech juggernaut has not yet debuted its own foldable iPhone. Interestingly, a new report reveals that a foldable iPhone might just be released in 2021.
Foldable iPhone
A new report claims that the foldable iPhone might debut in just a matter of months. A recent interview with Alfred University professor of Glass And Science William LaCourse reveals this crucial detail. This is further supported by the information revealed by Corning, Apple’s supplier for Gorilla Glass used in iPhones.
Glass-based products for foldable devices is currently under active development; the report notes. These devices might be released to consumers in the next 12 to 18 months, the report adds. If the report is accurate, Corning could be working on Apple foldable iPhone, a possibility Professor LaCourse concurs.
The Glass and Science professor believes that the consumers are less than a year away from the announcement of Apple’s foldable device.
Apple Document
A few days earlier, several sites reported about an Apple document that seemingly revealed the Cupertino company’s plan of a new device, probably an iPhone, with a revolutionary design. The patent published by the US Patent and Trademark Office reveals an all-glass smartphone that looks like a sheet of glass. The document further describes that Apple is looking into equipping all the sides with touch or force sensors.
Additionally, the Apple patent also considers turning all the sides of the iPhone into displays with one serving as the primary display. It means aside from the standard front display, the back, top, bottom, as well as the left and right sides, are all made of glass panels that users could interact with. While these latest details appear interesting, it is worth mentioning that these are not guarantees that the Cupertino tech company is indeed working on a foldable iPhone. These are not official information coming from the company. We suggest taking this with a grain of salt.
