“Until Dawn” developer Supermassive Games has confirmed that it is releasing its “Man of Medan” game this coming August. The new title is going to be a horror game and it is said to be part of an overarching universe of games. Here’s what we know about this upcoming title.

According to Destructoid, Supermassive Games has started its “The Dark Pictures Anthology” with the “Man of Medan” horror game. The game’s trailer shows that players would have to make choices to help their characters traverse and survive whatever horrors this game would bring. The trailer also shows a ship with many corpses and an eerily, tidy and out of place ballroom with a coffin on stage. We’ve yet to know the full story of this game.

In their previous project, “Until Dawn,” Supermassive Games gave players control of decisions made by each person in a clique of high school students. Players have to make choices that will decide their character’s fate and whether or not they’ll survive the night from threats that could take their lives.

While it’s possible to get the best ending in this horror game where most characters survive, players will have to look into every option on multiple playthroughs to get things right. The charm of “Until Dawn” is its ability to deliver the horrors of a thriller film in a form of a video game. Due to its gameplay, the game was popular among players who play it with friends and peers since each decision can be decided by the group.

If the “Man of Medan” follows the same format as the previous game, Supermassive Games can give its horror fan following something to look forward to. Since its part of an anthology, more games similar to this or set in the same universe would follow.

Interested players have a choice to wait to buy it for its release on August 30, 2019 or pre-order its Curator’s Cut edition. The pre-order edition would have more “options and choices” for the player to decide similar to how a movie’s “Director’s Cut” has more scenes than the regular movie. However, the developer has yet to reveal the price of this new game.
