US Open Tennis 2012: Watch Live Stream Online of Federer, Murray and Roddick in Wednesday’s Action; Preview

Preview: Following a rain sodden day at the US Open, tennis fans could be set for a bumper lineup of tennis action at the US Open on Wednesday. The interruptions on Tuesday mean that there remain several men's fourth round matches still to get through.

Hoping to prolong his career for at least one more match, Andy Roddick had just begun a first-set tiebreak in his tense clash with former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro. The pair are scheduled to play to a finish in the second match on Arthur Ashe.

Second seed Novak Djokovic will also come back on Wednesday to try and get his last-16 encounter completed against Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka. The Serbian leads 2-0 in the first set, having got an early break, and will be eager to try and win while expending as little energy as possible given the likelihood that he will have to play a quarterfinal on Thursday.

Janko Tipsarevic and German Philipp Kohlschreiber will also be back to play out their fourth-round encounter, with the Serbian leading 5-2 in the opening set.

Those matches are just the start of a blockbuster day. In the evening session on Ashe, world No.1 Roger Federer goes for a semifinal place against Tomas Berdych. While Federer has an 11-4 winning record against his Czech opponent, Berdych has recorded some notable victories over the great Swiss. The one that is sure to still be fresh in Berdych's mind is a win in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2010 en route to his only Grand Slam final to date.

If Berdych can get his monstrous forehand firing then the sixth seed can be a threat to any player on the tour. With Federer's current run of form, though, it would be a brave man to bet against another semifinal at Flushing Meadows for the 31-year-old.

The other men's quarterfinal on Wednesday sees Federer's conqueror at this summer's Olympics, Andy Murray, take on Marin Cilic. Like Berdych, Cilic has some powerful weapons, but Murray's 6-1 record against the Croatian hints that he relishes the task of countering his opponent's aggressive game.

Weather permitting, the women's semifinal lineup should be known by the end of play. Maria Sharapova may have been glad that her quarterfinal with Marion Bartoli was halted on Tuesday after dropping the first four games. The third seed will expect to return to the court in better shape, while hoping that her French opponent drops off a level from the exemplary tennis she displayed in the opening stages.

The evening session gets underway with a potentially engaging clash between Serena Williams and Ana Ivanovic. Incredibly the match represents Ivanovic's first Grand Slam quarterfinal since claiming the French Open title in 2008. It has been a tough few years for the former world No.1, but the signs are now there that she can make a regular return to the latter stages of the biggest tournaments.

Ivanovic will need something special if her run in New York is to go any further this year, however. Williams may be the fourth seed, but her incredible form through the summer means there are few people who don't view her as a strong favorite to claim her fourth US Open title.

The remaining women's quarterfinal sees an all-Italian clash between Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci. The two close friends will be vying for the right to become their country's first US Open semifinalist in the Open era. Errani edges the head-to-head record between the pair and has the benefit of greater experience in the latter stages of Grand Slams having reached the final at Roland Garros earlier this year. However, Vinci has been in stunning form at Flushing Meadows, particularly in dispatching second seed Agnieszka Radwanska in straight sets in the fourth round.
