Vaccinated? You Can Visit Greece Starting In May
With more people getting vaccinated around the world, especially in the U.S., states, as well as some countries, are starting to reopen for visitors.
One of these countries is Greece, which is striving for a May 14, 2021 reopening date, Harry Theocharis, the tourism minister for the country stated.
Those wanting to take an international vacation must provide proof of full vaccination, have COVID-19 antibodies or have a negative COVID-19 test in order to enter.
"Greece is ready with a complete protocol for summer 2021," Theocharis said, per Reuters. "Tourists will be welcome if before travel they are either vaccinated, or have antibodies, or test negative. All tourists will be subject to random testing."
It’s important for the country to reopen because it heavily relies on tourism every year. It’s reported that one in five workers are employed in the tourism industry.
Greece has had around 217k recorded positive COVID-19 cases with nearly 7,000 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
