‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Spoilers: Christmas Episode To Include Flashbacks; Will We See Damon And Elena’s Past?

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 Christmas episode might feel a little familiar. As previously reported, Bonnie (Kat Graham) is going to give all of her old holiday traditions a shot, and that means thinking about all the holidays she spent with her friends and family. The bad news is that this will probably make Bonnie feel even worse about being stuck in 1994. The good news is that fans will get to see flashbacks.

Bonnie will be thinking back to the good old days when she spent all of her time with Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola). TV Guide reports that Bonnie will “recreate her favorite traditions while reminiscing about happier times with her best friends” in the Christmas episode. They also posted new stills from the episode of the girls stringing popcorn in Mystic Falls.

The flashbacks might not be Bonnie’s alone. Caroline and her mother are seen alone in a flashback, which means that we could be seeing anyone’s Christmas past – including Delena. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena have been confirmed to have a run in with mistletoe.

"There may be some hanging mistletoe in Damon and Elena's future," showrunner Julie Plec told E! Online. "Whether or not they kiss underneath it remains to be seen."

While Elena hasn’t been running into Damon’s arms lately, the show might be flashing back to a time when she remembered being in love with him. It wouldn’t be the first time the show has given Delena shippers a flashback. In order to give fans a highly requested scene where Damon and Elena kiss in the rain, “Vampire Diaries” Season 6, episode 7 showed Damon flashing back to happier times.

In the present day, Damon and Elena will be helping Alaric (Matt Davis) find someone who went missing, so they might not get a chance for romance. We’ll have to wait for the episode to see when the mistletoe moment happens. Until then, we’ll just have to keep reliving the kiss in the rain.
