2020 is going to be a rather busy year for fans of the RPG genre. With games like “Outer Worlds” and “Cyberpunk 2077” coming out next year, another RPG game joins the mix.

Hardsuit Labs and Studio Paradox Interactive introduced the first trailer for “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.” Additionally, the developers once again clarified that the release date for the game would be in the first quarter of 2020. This means that fans have to wait a little over six months for the next installment in the franchise.

“Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2” will take place in Seattle: from the dark alleys and buildings to the bright lights of the Pioneer Square. The main character will be unwillingly turned into a vampire, and then becomes involved in a war between vampire clans.

One of the key concepts of the game is known as the Masquerade, which is a set of rules that allow vampires to survive among humans. According to the history of the fictional world, the need to comply with the Masquerade was recognized in the 15th century, when the Inquisition destroyed many vampires and threatened the very existence of the vampire society.

“Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines,” the first in the Bloodlines series, is a choice-driven RPG about vampires and vampire politics. The game was set in the tabletop-based World of Darkness. Unfortunately, the game released with a slew of bugs and issues since it was somewhat unfinished. However, it eventually got patched and repaired, gathering a cult following around the deep character choices and branching narratives.

The depth of the character choices made the first game famous. How one decision could affect you hours into the game gave fans a thrill and forced them to really consider the decision they made in the game.

The trailer for “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2” gave fans of the franchise a first glimpse of the protagonist’s initial Embrace, as well as snippets of gameplay. In addition to the trailer, there is also an extended gameplay trailer which you can watch below:

The game will begin with a mass embrace that has many vampires being created all at once. The protagonist will take on the role of one of these vampires, and will be welcomed into the world of the Masquerade by a fellow vampire.

“When you were made as a very young vampire, a lot of other vampires were made at the same time. They’re having a less lucky time in the world […] going through vampire puberty on their own. They might have a family and a wife and children, who morally object to drinking blood. And you can find them throughout the world,” senior writer, Cara Ellison, said.

There is also a full gameplay demo, which was revealed during E3 2019:

"Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2" releases sometime in early 2020 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
