Listeria infection can be serious and, in some instances, fatal in young children, elderly adults, or those with weakened immune systems. Some individuals may suffer symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
