In a nationally televised address, US President Barack Obama has announced that Al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden has been killed by US troops after a firefight.

US forces has been seeking Laden after the 9/11 attacks which was a series of coordinated suicide attacks by Al-Qaeda on the country. The helicopter raid which was used for the attack involved US Navy Seals.

During the announcement, Obama said that Pakistan cooperated with the attack and that the US troops took utmost care to ensure that no civilians were injured. He also said that after the firefight, the US took custody of Bin Laden's remains.

Obama, however, issued alert for Americans living in different countries following the announcement. To celebrate the occasion, dozens of Americans gathered outside the White House with flags in their hands.
