Two people in New York City were caught on camera seemingly having sex in an outdoor dining shed.
Twitter user @layajospe spotted the alleged sexual act on First Avenue and 1st Street in Manhattan at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Several people passed by the couple while they appeared to be engaging in a sexual act, footage showed.
The man in the video was also spotted performing oral sex, according to a later post.
A similar incident happened in late August when two attendees of a baseball game at Toronto, Canada's Rogers Centre were kicked out of the premises after they were caught seemingly having sex during the match.
Around a week before that, a couple was also caught allegedly having sex during another Major League Baseball game in Oakland's RingCentral Coliseum.
New York's outdoor dining sheds were introduced in 2020 via the Open Restaurants program in an attempt to rescue the city's restaurant industry.
Outdoor dining saved 100,000 jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in August.
"The Open Restaurants program was a lifeline for the city's restaurant industry during the pandemic — it kept restaurants afloat during the hardest of times, enlivened commercial corridors, and set a new example of how we can think about our public street space and sidewalks," the official said at the time.
However, some restaurant sheds have since been abandoned, with some being used for sex and drugs, the New York Post reported.
Others were turned into havens for the homeless and makeshift toilets, according to the outlet.
Adams previously announced that a multiagency enforcement initiative would remove abandoned sheds that were formerly part of restaurants that have closed down.
"As none of the sheds are currently attached to functioning restaurants, these abandoned sheds have, in many cases, fallen into disrepair and created conditions that facilitate illicit and illegal behavior - affecting quality of life in neighborhoods across the city," Adams said.
The closure of abandoned outdoor sheds will keep New York's streets safe, clean and maintained, according to city councilmember Julie Menin, who is also the chair of the Committee on Small Business.
A total of 97,329,787 COVID-19 cases and 1,066,351 virus-related deaths have been reported in the U.S. so far, data provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed.
