Video Shows Johnny Damon’s DUI Arrest, Mentioning Donald Trump Support
Video of Johnny Damon’s arrest last month on a DUI charge in Florida has been released. The former MLB star and his wife can be seen involved in a verbal altercation with police before they are put in handcuffs.
The footage, which was obtained by TMZ, shows Damon getting out of his vehicle after being pulled over by the police. One of the police officers tells Damon that he was driving in and out of his lane and that he struck a curb at one point. The officer also said that Damon stopped late when he arrived at a stop sign.
Damon’s wife, Michelle Mangan-Damon, opened her door and refused to listen to the officer when she was told to stay in the car. Damon asked his wife to obey the officer, but to no avail.
When the officer tried to stop Mangan-Damon from walking past the car, she still didn’t listen. Mangan-Damon demanded that the officer stop touching her.
At one point, Damon insinuated that he was being targeted because of his support for Donald Trump.
“Hey, bro, I'm a good [expletive] guy. I know people are trying to target me because I’m a Trump supporter,” Damon said.
Damon admitted to drinking “a little bit.” His blood alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit.
A World Series champion with the Boston Red Sox, Damon played 18 MLB seasons.
