A preview video of episode 9 shows the scale of the invasion that the Vikings will have to deal with. Russia is vast country with a powerful army and vast resources. Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) has been camped there, giving Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky) advice about how the war against his brothers can be beneficial.
The odds are against them, but Bjorn will be determined to fight. The main reason for his attitude is that the Russians are a Christian army, and the king of Kattegat does not want to give up his gods.

The Russian invasion will also be of some concern for King Harald (Peter Franzén). A sneak peek scene that has been released online shows the king of Norway discussing an attack and its implications.
King Olaf’s (Steven Berkoff) suggestion to Harald will be to prepare for war. The raiding party will return in the future, and they will be accompanied by a large army the next time. The attack, however, will spread fear in the Viking camps because the invaders will be described as ghosts who wear fur and speak a strange language.
