‘The Voice’ Judges Season 16: Who Will John Legend Replace In 2019?
“The Voice” Season 15 hasn’t even aired yet but fans can rest assured that the NBC singing competition will be back with another season and a new judge. Grammy award-winning singer John Legend will be joining the panel in 2019.
Each season, a new judge tends to shake things up, and this time around the “Love Me Now” singer will be seated in one of the coveted red chairs. He will take on the task of building a team of contestants and mentoring them as they compete for the title of “The Voice.”
Legend will replace Season 15 judge Jennifer Hudson when he makes his debut on the 2019 panel alongside returning coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson.
The “All of Me” singer confirmed the exciting news on Thursday. “I’m thrilled to join the coaches of ‘The Voice.’ I've been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL,” Legend said in a press release.
The network appeared quite pleased with the decision to add the 39-year-old to the panel of judges and praised his talents. “John Legend is a one-of-a-kind musician and producer with remarkable skills that are beyond measure,” said Paul Telegdy of NBC Entertainment.
“His multi-dimensional career and incredible talents provide a repertoire that will excite and inspire our artists. This coaching panel is sure to ignite season 16,” he added.
Already the winner of 10 Grammy Awards, Legend recently achieved EGOT status when he won a Creative Arts Emmy for his role in producing “Jesus Christ Superstar.” The award allowed him to enter into the rare category of individuals who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.
Fans will have to wait a few months before they will have the chance to see Legend on their televisions two nights per week, however, as “The Voice” Season 16 doesn’t air until Spring 2019.
In the meantime, music lovers can tune into “The Voice” Season 15 starting Monday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
