After being locked up for years, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) may finally be a free man in “The Walking Dead” Season 10. The former villain’s good deeds have earned him the trust of the heroes, and according to executive producer Angela Kang the fans of the character will be satisfied when the show returns.

Negan spent nearly the whole of last season in a cell. He later saved the life of Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) daughter, which may help him get released in Season 10.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kang said that some of the other characters on the show would have noticed that Negan wasn’t cuffed to the bed at the infirmary. Judith’s (Cailey Fleming) rescue will now propel the story towards the “next stage” in Negan’s evolution, according to the producer.

“I think for people who have been wanting us to release the Negan, there will be some satisfaction there,” Kang said.

The evolution of Negan does not mean that the character will turn into one of the good guys. The character is on the road to redemption, but Kang pointed out that the character’s core hasn’t changed. The producer pointed out that the character is not a hero, and the best way to describe him is as an anti-hero.

Negan’s storyline in “The Walking Dead” Season 10 is one of Kang’s favorites this year. The character has a “darkness and an edge to him,” the producer teased.

Who will be the one to release Negan? Michonne (Danai Gurira) emerged as the leader of the group after Rick’s exit, but it remains to be seen if she will change her mind about the former villain.

Michonne will be involved in some big action sequences in the next season. A first look picture of the character released on Entertainment Weekly shows the character fighting zombies with her sword while there’s a major fire in the background.

“The Walking Dead” Season 10 will be the last for Michonne. The character will be exiting the TV series at some point in the next season, TV Guide reported.
