'Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: Photos Teases Key Details About Rick Grimes Following Finale Cliffhanger
After the Season 5 finale of "The Walking Dead" ended on that dramatic cliffhanger, fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of the popular AMC series. While the show’s creators are remaining tight-lipped about the fallout from the finale, a newly released photo from Season 6 teases some key details.
Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look at Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) following his [SPOILER ALERT] public execution of Pete (Corey Brill) and the subsequent return of Morgan (Lennie James). The image shows Rick with a rifle and some kind of utility truck. Interestingly enough, he’s no longer wearing his police officer uniform given to him by Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh). It’s hard to tell if that means he’s been booted from Alexandria or if he’s simply not their sheriff anymore. After all, the truck has to come from somewhere.
As the outlet notes, it looks as though fans can expect Season 6 to pick up immediately where Season 5 left off, given that Rick is sporting the same injuries from his throw down with Pete. In previously reported images of Glenn (Steven Yeun) the actor seems to still be recovering from his Season 5 injuries as well.
Now that Morgan has arrived with the survivors of Alexandria, the showrunners seem to be teasing a conflict between him and Rick when Season 6 kicks off sometime this fall. A poster for the new season even has them squaring off. While the show has mostly focused on Rick and his group, Morgan has been a constant presence in the show since episode 1. Back from his own journey of self discovery, he’s adopted a “life is precious” attitude that runs contrary to Rick’s kill to survive attitude. In the photo, Rick seems to be at a crossroads (literally). Perhaps rather than battle with Morgan and the rest of the folks at Alexandria, he’ll warm up to their way of thinking.
Unfortunately, fans will just have to wait to find out until “The Walking Dead” returns in October. Season 6 will return after AMC's new companions series, “Fear the Walking Dead,” premieres in August.
