‘Walking Dead’ Spinoff Series To Debut In 2015 On AMC
Love the “Walking Dead” and don’t want it to end? AMC has good news for fans of the zombie thriller since a spinoff series has just been given the green light, the New York Daily News reported Monday.
The paper added that the show’s creators, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert, will all be involved in the new series as producers, but the stars of “Walking Dead” will not be on screen.
"After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn't be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of the 'Walking Dead' universe," Kirkman said in a statement.
The show is expected to premiere in 2015 and is currently untitled. The cast might be all-new, but it will take place in the same zombie-ridden world as “Walking Dead.”
"The opportunity to make a show that isn't tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing,” he said. As most “Walking Dead” fans know, the popular show is based on the comic.
Those who have been longing for another zombie apocalypse luckily don’t have to wait until 2015 to watch living corpses walk the earth. The fourth season of “Walking Dead” is set to premiere on AMC Oct. 13, so fans will watch Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) slay zombies with his diminishing crew of companions.
