‘Walking Dead’ Spinoff Update: New Series Will Not Be Connected To Comic Book Issue 127
We’ve got some bad news for those hoping for some “Walking Dead” spinoff scoop. The upcoming AMC series is still in the works … but creator Robert Kirkman has no plans to give fans any spoilers in the comics.
Rumors about the spinoff series began to swirl when the cover of Kirkman’s “Walking Dead” comic, issue 127, was released online. The cover shows a woman with brown hair and a green jacket perched on what looks like a storage container. Zombie hands reach from below for her, while five humans can be seen hanging behind her.
According to ComicBook.com, the issue has been teased as “a new beginning” – which is what led fans to speculate that the unidentified woman has something to do with the “Walking Dead” spinoff series.
Since Kirkman previously explained that the new series would follow “another group of characters, surviving in another part of the world,” it seemed plausible that the introduction of new characters in issue 127 could tie that all together. On top of that, in a Reddit “AMA” Kirkman teased fans that “there are some REALLY cool changes coming up in issue 127.”
But unfortunately he cleared up that the “cool changes” have nothing to do with the “Walking Dead” spinoff.
“For the TV spinoff, I’m coming up with that stuff,” Kirkman revealed in the letters section of comic book issue 125. “What’s happening in issue 127 is in no way connected to the spinoff TV show.”
“The Walking Dead” spinoff, which remains unnamed, is set to premiere in 2015. “Sons of Anarchy” producer Dave Erickson is signed on to be an executive producer, as well as co-write alongside Robert Kirkman
