The Golden State Warriors are continuing to sign players on minimum contracts as they look to fill their roster without breaching the hard cap. The recently dethroned NBA champions put themselves in a difficult position after offering D’Angelo Russell a max four-year deal worth $117 million in a sign-and-trade deal from Brooklyn Nets.

Steve Kerr’s side re-signed Kevon Looney on a three-year $15 million deal recently and have now added small forward Glenn Robinson III on a two-year deal, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The deal is believed to be a minimum with the second year a player option allowing the forward to enter free agency.

The 25-year-old has played for four teams in his five-year NBA career, Minnesota Timberwolves, who drafted him as the 40th overall pick in 2014, Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers and most recently with Detroit Pistons. In 2018, he averaged 4.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 13 minutes played per game.

The Warriors continued their acquisition spree in free agency with The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson reporting that they have agreed a deal with Sacramento Kings center Willie Cauley-Stein. The deal is said to be just above the minimum, which could rule out the Warriors re-signing DeMarcus Cousins.

The 25-year-old center is expected to provide back up to Kevon Looney, who is likely to be the starting center for the Warriors. Cauley-Stein averaged 11.9 points and 8.4 rebounds for Kings last season, but has not been better than 35 percent from the floor anywhere outside the restricted area, as per Yahoo Sports.

Meanwhile, the Warriors, who lost Kevin Durant this summer after the small forward decided to join the Nets on a four-year deal, have tied down Klay Thompson to a max contract worth $190 million. The shooting guard recently underwent a surgery to fix the ACL injury he suffered during the 2019 NBA Finals and is expected to be out at least until the All-Star break in 2020.
