Princess Diana is undeniably one of the most popular royals. In fact, even Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle couldn’t compare to her popularity.

One netizen took to Quora and asked if the late Princess of Wales was overrated. The question garnered mixed reactions from other online users.

For Deanna Eppers, Princess Diana was not overrated. She pointed out the things she did that no other royals did like touching AIDS patients, walking in minefields, and caring for the less fortunate.

“Diana remained the People’s Princess. She showed us in real time how to love others even when she felt unlovable, and that resonated with most of the people on this planet. Diana brought a new way of being royal to this British Royal family,” she added.

Geoffrey Fielden also believed that Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom was not overrated. He found Princess Diana a brilliant mom and questioned her death calling it a “nasty jolt” and a reminder of how “evil royals really are.”

Meanwhile, Alec Fane felt that Princess Diana was overrated because “all celebrities are.” The same user added that while the People’s Princess did a lot of good work, she was far from being reproach.

Dan Weinberg, who works at UK Civil Service, also believed that Princess Diana was overrated because many worshipped her as if she was perfect when she was flawed, too.

“I think she is remembered with rose-tinted glasses. She was a deeply flawed character. I detest those who attempt to deify her,” he wrote.

“She was as much at fault as Charles for the failure of her marriage. She had a number of affairs, he stuck to one other woman. There is absolutely no evidence to support the assertion that he was having an affair throughout his marriage.”

He believed that the press was kind to Princess Diana because she ran to them whenever she had issues with Prince Charles. For the same reason, the media disliked Prince Charles’ second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.
