Watch The 6 Best ‘SNL’ Skits From Last Night
“Saturday Night Live” delivered a strong episode in their final outing of 2018. Matt Damon hosted and starred in several of the best skits from last night. Watch them below:
It’s A Wonderful Trump Cold Open — This “SNL” skit shows Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) seeing a world where he lost the election. He has a new wife and new businesses. Michael Cohen (Ben Stiller) is still his best friend and Brett Kavanaugh (Matt Damon) did not get a Supreme Court seat. Trump thinks back to his agenda, but Kennan Thompson’s angel reminds him that he can still have opinions. “Well, that’s the best part about not being president. You can still say the same stuff — build a wall, bring back coal — but you don’t have to deal with the fact that all your ideas are impractical or insane,” he says.
Oscar Host Auditions — Like every “SNL” auditions sketch, this is just a chance for everyone to show off their best celebrity impressions. It’s simple but delightful. Highlights include Kenan Thompson’s Terry Crews, Matt Damon’s Chris Hemsworth and Cecily Strong’s Rachel Brosnahan.
Kate McKinnon’s Ellen DeGeneres was a particular standout, calling out the Kevin Hart controversy. “I haven’t done anything controversial...except for being gay. But people don’t have a problem with that now. Except for the guy who was supposed to host,” she said.
Weezer — “SNL” takes on Weezer fans in this sketch. Leslie Jones is an old-school fan who thinks their new music is terrible, but Matt Damon is a ride or die fan. They’re not going to simply let each other have their opinions.
Westminster Daddy Show — Instead of dogs, it’s daddies in this “SNL” skit. Kate McKinnon and Matt Damon play the hilarious commentators who explain exactly what the judges are looking for in these middle-aged men.
Happy Christmas, Britain — Prime Minister Theresa May (Kate McKinnon) isn’t having the best year, but she still hosts her holiday talk show with guests like former Prime Minister David Cameron (Matt Damon), Elton John (Aidy Bryant) and Lord Voldemort (Mikey Day).
Best Christmas Ever — Matt Damon and Cecily Strong reflect on their wonderful Christmas. From staying up all night building a playhouse, to kids waking them up before dawn, to political arguments with cousins, to rude in-laws, they both agree that it was the “best Christmas ever.”
“Saturday Night Live” Season 44 returns to NBC in 2019.
